The biggest strength of the science department is the strong teachers who really know their subjects.

There is way too much homework in every class. Also, the drop-off in quality from Honors and AP classes to regular classes during 11-12th grade is astounding.

They have a real knowledge of fiction and nonfiction and teach to work past the text to analyze what the author is really saying.

Sometimes the grading can be suspect in terms of inconsistency. Obviously grading the humanities has a level of opinion-based grading, but sometimes the justification can fall a little flat.

The college counseling departments biggest strengths are that they are well versed in many different colleges and systems of applications.
Areas of improvements
They sometimes either cannot gauge a student's level or hopefully ignore their level in order to elevate the department's credibility. College admissions are weird, however aiming every successful kid towards high level school without appropriate substitutes is not great if they do not get in.

They make strong, careful decisions that most often are positive. Where they are when I started versus when I graduated is night and day.

They are sometimes to scared to lose quality people and this leads to way to many titles given out. There was multiple heads of schools, several directors of something that seem redundant. I understand wanting to retain talented educators, but at some point, you have to trust your recruitment department.

The most important thing a prospective student should know is the school atmosphere. There is a sense of belonging and community that is very intentional on the part of the administration.

Prof. Moix. Profesora taught me so many life lessons including hard work and the importance of being prepared. She is the best.

Take the Honors and AP courses. You learn so much more. Especially take them if you are going to a state school. You will save time and money.

I would have to say playing soccer was my favorite sport and team at FRA. We have the most incredible coaches like Coach Knight and Coach Mac who provide dedication, drive, and support to the team. We also are pretty good!

I think that the Science Department’s biggest strengths at FRA would have to be the equipment and teachers that we have. We have incredible science classrooms equipped with up to date tools that make learning science fun and hands on. Also, every single science teacher that I have had at FRA has blown me away at their teaching and science skills.

I think that one area for improvement for the Science Department at FRA would be to offer more classes. There already are so many classes offered, but there are also so many areas of science. I think it would be really cool to have even more classes to help open up our minds a little bit more to be ready for college and the world.

My favorite course in the Science Department would have to be AP Biology. Not only did I love the course, the way we learned content, and doing many hands on labs, but I also really loved Ms. Feyes. She is an incredible teacher with a way of helping students understand with props and a good amount of patience. She is one of the best teachers I have ever had.

I think that the Math Department’s biggest strength at FRA would have to be the flowing classes. In every math class that I took in high school at FRA, there was always room for questions, and teachers would make fun activities to bring the class closer together. I think this is because the math teachers are all close friends at FRA.

I think that the Math Department’s biggest area for improvement would have to be hours for getting help. It is difficult to come before or after school as a student. There is a math lab but I think that it should be promoted more.

I think that the history department’s biggest strengths at FRA were the amount of courses that were offered. Most all AP history courses were offered, and there were many electives and other courses for history that helped narrow down what students were learning about.
Areas of improvements
I think that the history department’s biggest area for improvement would have to be how we didn’t really get outside opinion. I would have loved to take a field trip to a museum or had someone like a professor come in and speak to us. Getting an outside perspective on history is very helpful in learning.

I would have to say either AP US History. AP US History was amazing because of the content and the way that Mr. Wilson taught the class. It was a good environment and interesting to learn more about our country.

I think that the English Department’s biggest strengths at FRA is the selection of teachers. Each English teacher that I have had at FRA is well versed in what they teach as well as very kind and easy to talk to. I think some of our best well rounded teachers are in the English Department.

I think that, at least in some of the classes that I took, there could have been more reading. I am aware that there are many classes available for reading, but the core classes that many are required to take don’t read as much as I think that we should.

I feel like they did not have enough time with working with individuals. There was only three college counselors for a 90s student class so I feel like if they had more staff, it could’ve been a lot better.

Strengths
While FRA has so many amazing strengths, I think the most prominent one is the strong sense of community and connection throughout all of campus and the student body. Going to FRA makes you feel like you are a part of one big family.
Areas of improvements
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think FRA needs to take a break from all of the construction for a while after the high school is done. This is because I can barely remember a time from over a decade that I spent at FRA where no construction work was occurring. I understand FRA wants to get better and better, but it can be annoying with the noises and altered ways to walk.

I think that a prospective student should know about how close the school is to one another. I believe that the school is like a family in no way that I have seen before. There is so much support, and it makes you feel like you are a part of a community.
Who was your favorite teacher? Why?
The obvious answer is Mr. Jones. Everyone’s favorite teacher at FRA is Mr. Jones. He knows what he is talking about while also having lived through such cool experiences, providing advice and knowledge through those experiences. He is also very funny and cares a lot about his students in a way that stands out from the rest of the teachers.
What courses would you recommend?
I know we have a growing economics program, but maybe including classes like Macroeconomics as an elective as well as the AP class that’s already provided so that many more students can get started on learning about economics.

Softball (Coach Hilkin and Coach Climer). I now have a role on the Belmont softball team due to their connections and coaching. Softball is an integral aspect of my life and I wouldn’t be the same person if I didn’t play it at FRA. Coach Matthews (head coach at Belmont) feels the same.

They cater to their athletes like no other without letting the get away with anything they want. Athletes are paired with phenomenal coaches committed to, not winning, but making the teams better as wholes.

They put too much money and time into the athletes when there are numerous issues that need to be fixed like the lack of diversity, the state of bullying, and the lack of parking space. All these things could be fixed if they would divert even a little of the attention they give to sports

I only played tennis so it was my favorite but I didn’t think it was very well run or organized. We just hit the ball around at practice and sometimes our coach wouldn’t ever show up but I think he was the only person who was willing to be the tennis coach.
